Hinton is located in Yellowhead County on Highway 16. It is 80 km east of the Jasper town site, 80 km west of Edson and 287 km west of Edmonton.
Known as the "Gateway to the Rockies", Hinton is a recreational paradise located in the picturesque Athabasca River Valley and at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. This thriving community of 10,000 people offers much more than breathtaking surroundings and endless recreational possibilities. It is the base for a coal mine, pulp mill, sawmill, oil and gas developments as well as the Hinton Training Centre. Hinton has also developed Innovista Industrial Park, Canada's first from the ground up eco-industrial park (EIP). Other emerging industries include tourism and resource development.
