TownPost is an online "trading post" offering classifieds to buy and sell locally, post jobs, share community events calendar, and garage sales. This is a free service that has been serving residents and local businesses for over 10 years.
The initial launch of the site was for Barrhead, Westlock, Whitecourt, and Slave Lake but has since expanded to the whole province of Alberta. The name "Town Post" came from our mission to build an online community for people in small towns to post locally relevant items (similar to those bulletin boards you seen uptown).
We continue to thrive even with the fierce competition of the U.S. tech giants like Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji (an eBay company). It's our belief that small communities need to create their own online infrastructure to serve their towns, keep advertising revenue local, and have local administrators to keep the service safe, local, and relevant.
