#canadianwindowsanddoors CANADIAN CHOICE WINDOWS AND DOORS Please read this review before you go with this company. My partner and I purchased a home on July 30th, 2021 and contacted Canadian Choice windows promptly as the windows were our primary focus. I met with project manager, Shaun B on August 4th, 2021 and he spent a lot of time at the home taking measurements and looking at the scope of work. He gave me an estimate that very meeting and let me know the next step would be final measurements and a 20% deposit to get the order started. I emailed him the Aug 5th to reduce the scope of work (less the porch windows) and sliders vs swing out and was promptly given a requote/contract Aug 6th which I was told to just reply to in order to get the order going, which I did. I was told the windows would take 2-3 months to come in and a 2 day install. On August 17th, Borys and another installer came out to take final measurements of the home. They let me know the homes molding was on the frames of the front windows so they would have someone come out and look at that for a solution. I sent my 20% deposit in the amount of $3500.00 on August 19th for finalizing the order. On August 30th I received a phone call from Shaun with 'not great news'. They would not replace the whole window and frame now but rather they would do a retrofit instead and we would be responsible for the casings, etc (we had already paid someone to remove these in preparation for this project), and although the scope of work reduced, the estimate would remain the same. I asked to meet Shaun on-site to make sure I understood what this meant for both function and aesthetics. I met with him on September 3rd and we went over everything and I was satisfied with his explanation and was good to keep going. On October 12th I reached out to find out the status of the windows and spoke to Shaun directly. I was told they were probably just delayed due to painting and they get a 3 week lead time so would tell me when that happened. On November 2nd I emailed and called to follow up and didn't get a response. I called the head office in Edmonton on November 3rd and was put on hold after giving my information. The girl came back on the line after a few minutes and said she couldn't really find anything on my file and that she would have to talk to a Manager and would call me back in a bit. I never got a call back. This morning was the best morning of my life. I received a phone call from the project manager saying he had really bad news. He then proceeded to tell me my project had been canceled and the windows had never been ordered. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS. My deposit had not been returned and I was never contacted to let me know why and how. Now we have a house under major construction w the windows of utmost importance before winter sitting undone and I have to try to find someone else to do the job. 3 months have gone by where I have thought everything was ok and organized and now I was told this after chasing them for an update. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. READ THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINTS AGAINST THIS COMPANY BEFORE YOU CONSIDER. THERE ARE A TON and now I know why.
